Origin Energy purchased Wind Power Pty Ltd and the rights to their wind energy portfolio including Stockyard Hill. Since the aquisition, we have requested a meeting with Origin Energy so that we could begin a fresh start, in the hope that Origin would have ethical standards. Origin, despite their stated committment to community consultation, has refused to meet with the Landscape Guardians, has refused to hold a public meeting for wider community and has refused to provide the planning application on a computer disk so that it distributed to the public - particularly those that are impacted. It would appear that nothing has changed.

Wind Power Pty Ltd was a Melbourne based company established in 2001 and responsible for the following wind development projects:

Gippsland
?    Wonthaggi Facility with six turbines operational; managed by their subsidiary company Wind Power Management Pty Ltd.
?    Bald Hills Wind Farm – planning approval received for 52 wind turbines. Development rights now owned by Mitsui & Co (Australia) Ltd – a subsidiary of the Japanese company Mitsui & Co.

Western Victoria
?    Waubra Wind Farm – constructed and owned by Acciona Energy, a Spanish company.
?    Lexton Wind Farm – planning approval received for 19 wind turbines; project is under tender.
?    Tuki Wind Farm (Smeaton) – feasibility study underway
?    Stockyard Hill Wind Farm – the Minister for Planning has requested that three reports be submitted instead of a full Environmental Effects Statement. A planning application may be submitted at any time.
